Meet the new, American girl – she’s tough, she’s independent and she’s bad, real bad. She demands R-E-S-P-E-C-T, like Aretha. She knows what she wants and she’s damn sure going to get it.

Watch out America. She’s coming for you!

Getting to Know Blake Lively and Gucci’s New Fragrance, Gucci Première

Image

Blake Lively with director Nicolas Winding Refn on set at the Gucci Première campaign shoot.

Blake Lively has been named the face of Gucci’s new fragrance, Gucci Première. The fragrance is said to be the brands new signature scent, inspired by the couture line of Gucci Première gowns and old Hollywood glitz and glam. We couldn’t imagine a better person for the job and it seems Gucci couldn’t either.

“In conceiving this fragrance I was inspired by timeless Hollywood glamour and the iconic leading ladies of Hollywood’s golden era,” said Frida Giannini, who is the creative director of the company. “Blake’s unique style and charisma brings that allure to life in a very contemporary way.”

I’ve loved Blake Lively since the first season of Gossip Girl, which is what she’s most known for in starring her role as Serena Van Der Woodsen. I was working as a beauty publicist on the Gucci account when I found out about three months ago. I couldn’t believe it, I was thrilled! I had worked with other celebs before in my role as a beauty publicist, but never any that I adored as much as I do Blake Lively.

I had the opportunity to meet Blake during what we call a ‘public relations day,’  we had a photoshoot with and invited select media to come interview her, exclusively, for the new fragrance, Gucci Premiere. The photoshoot with Gucci and Blake was one of the most amazing things I had experienced! The fashion, the glam and the A-list celeb – it was SO New York!

During Blake’s interviews with the media, I was impressed by how humble, sweet and normal she was. The 5’10 beaute talked about her love of family, fashion and dark chocolate, and when speaking on her role as the new face of Gucci, Blake told WWD that she felt lucky to be chosen. “Gucci is a staple. It is a brand I have always looked up to because to me it represents strength,” she said. “In their designs, in their images, in what they stand for philanthropically, and especially in their fragrance.…I couldn’t be more proud to be working with Gucci and its heart, Frida.”

The new signature fragrance for women, Gucci Première, is set to launch in September of this year. I know I’ll be adding it to my ever-growing collection!

My Current Obsessions

I wanted to share a few of my current obsessions this summer and invite you all to try them! I’m a firm believer in trying something on even if it’s a little outside my comfort zone and I’m usually pleasantly surprised. Because of this philosophy, I’ve shaken things up a bit in my closet and also been able to experiment with some fun new looks.

The first and second look is all about the Dip dress (some call it the hi-low dress or even better, the mullet dress). Whatever you’d like to call it, these dresses have become some of my favorite pieces in my closet.

I was out shopping with my Mom and she pulled this dress out of no where, in the sale section at The Limited and had me try it on. I was not expecting to love it and at the bargain price of 20$, how could I not?! It can easily be dressed up or down and I’m looking forward to wearing it to one of the many weddings I’ll be attending this summer.

This is another look for the Dip dress. It’s a subtle addition to such a fun dress and it looks amazing on! This was something that wasn’t too flattering on a hanger but once I tried it on I knew it was a keeper. This dress was 80$ from Anthropologie.

I love this candid shot of our girl Samantha. Xo!

The look is a mash up of a few favorites in my closet. The pleated neon skirt was bought for 20$ at Anthropologie and I absolutely love it! Some things you just don’t say no to, especially if your sister bought it for you (thanks, Chelsea!). The see through floral printed top is from H&M and literally goes with everything, having versatile pieces in your closet can really keep things interesting. We can’t forget the shoes, they are from Target and I love the unexpected pairing of a floral and leopard print. Don’t be afraid to take some risks!

A scalloped hemline can add a fun new twist to a skirt or a dress. Aside from that, I am in love with all things orange at the moment.

YVES SAINT LAURENT NAME CHANGED CONFIRMED

Rumors of a name change at YSL were confirmed today by WWD. Hedi Slimane, who succeeded Stefano Pilati as the Creative Director in March, plans to change the name of the fashion house from Yves Saint Laurent to Saint Laurent Paris.

Why the name change? Industry sources say the issue was brought up by Slimane in the interest of giving the brand a more fresh, modern feel as he takes on his role as Creative Director. Fashion House Reps at YSL are positioning the change as “restoring the house to its truth, purity and essence – and taking it into a new era” while “respecting the original principles and ideals.” The change was inspired by the Saint Laurent Rive Gauche collection, launched by the founder in 1966.

The name change, Saint Laurent Paris, will take place with the launch of the Spring/Summer 2013 ready-to-wear collection.

For those of you who are wondering what will come of the iconic YSL logo, appearing on many of the brands accessories and cosmetics, it will remain the same.

The Look: Sunday Brunch

Hat: Joe Fresh

Top: Anthropologie

Necklace: Banana Republic

Shorts: H&M

Shoes: Banana Republic

I love this look because it’s bright and bold, yet simple and easy. It’s fancy-meets-casual look is perfect for meeting the girls out for brunch, and let’s be honest, we’re likely to indulge in a few mimosas.

The bright top and print shorts are eye-catching and totally on trend for Summer. The best part of it all – the shorts and top were both recent additions to my wardrobe, caught on the sale rack for a total of $12. Yes, $12.

Happy Brunching!
